Dan PaulCEO Chairman
Dan started Green Horizons Landscape in 1986 and has over 30 years experience in landscape maintenance and construction. Dan holds California State licenses C27 and D49 and the Certified Applicator License through the Department of Pesticide Regulations. Dan is proud of the team he has assembled at Green Horizons and has developed a company culture that embraces safety, quality, customer service and continual improvement. He and his wife Ileana enjoy traveling and seeing different parts of the world. They have a son who is an airline pilot and 2 furry kids Alfie and Tiffany.
Gela AlayvillaPresident
Gela is originally from Kauai, Hawaii and transplanted to California in 1997. Although she loves living in California, Hawaii will always be her home. She strives to share her 'Aloha Spirit" as a part of every day life. She enjoys spending time in the water fishing and swimming with her wife and 2 children Kaikena and Ka'eo. She has been with Green Horizons since 2002. With over 25 years experience in accounting, customer service and operations management, she has a diverse background. Working closely with her office staff, she believes in providing consistent prompt service and support for both our internal and external customers. Her areas of responsibility include accounting and finance, customer service, business development and fleet management.
Brian ButlerVP of Operations
Certified Arborist, QAC
Brian joined Green Horizons in January 2011. He has been in the Landscape Architecture and construction field for 18 years, the last 12 years in Project and Operations Management. Brian has professional experience in every aspect of landscape development, from design/budgeting, implementation, to turn-over. He holds a BS degree in Agriculture-Landscape Architecture from South Dakota State University, is an alumni of the MAP management program, is a certified Arborist and member of the Western Chapter ISA, is OSHA and CPR/First Aid certified, and a member of the California Landscape Contractors Association. Brian and his family are accomplished black belts in karate and enjoys the outdoors, hiking and running.

Shelley SchwaesdallOffice Administration
Shelley has many years experience in office management and finance. She enjoys using her skills to contribute to this very busy landscape and maintenance company. Shelley has recently relocated to Escondido after living in Ramona for 36 years. She is looking forward to exploring what her new community has to offer. She enjoys music, movies and football. Shelley has three grown daughters and recently has become a grandmother for the first time.

Angel was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii and comes from a family of fourteen, yes 14. Married with 4 children which brought him 12 wonderful grand children. He moved to Escondido in January 2001. His favorite hobbies include fishing, bowling, softball and he loves to watch various different sports. He loves to cook and be with his grand children and family. Angel has been with Green Horizons for over 15 years and works in the accounting department with Accounts Payable and Inventory Control.
Joy ChidgeyHuman Resources
Joy has a daughter currently attending Seattle Pacific University and 2 cats named Gordie and Gizmo. She enjoys running and has run 7 Half Marathons. She ran her first 5k race in 2014 at the Carlsbad 5000. Joy has been a part of Green Horizons since 2003 and works in our accounting department with accounts receivable and payroll. She is a "joy" to be around and would be known as the 'class clown'.
Rosa HendersonAdministrative Assistant
Customer Service
Rosa is the voice of Green Horizons. Customer service is her focus here and she plays a vital role in assuring our service requests are routed efficiently and appropriately. She LOVES coffee; thanks to her grandmother who could never finish a cup and little Rosita would happily take care of it for her. She's always looking forward to the newest coffee drink out thee. Most are hits and a few misses. She's a California girl all the way and even though she complains about the heat, she wouldn't want to live anywhere else. She's married and has 2 children. One's an artist and the other still hasn't figured it out yet (she's pushing for fire fighter!)

Robert BarelaMaintenance Division Manager
Robert is a family man and enjoys spending time with his wife, 7 children and 7 grand children at the beach, movies and visiting the mountains. He is an active member of his community in Carlsbad and donates his time to schools and coaching various sports for his young sons. He loves getting to know the people he is fortunate to work with everyday. He has been a member of the landscape profession for over 25 years. His experience began at the City of Anaheim, where he spent years working in the tree division. Following this Robert also worked for Disneyland as a member of the Landscape Maintenance Division. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to progress to the position of Account Manager, while dedicated himself to meeting the needs of his clients through providing quality service and excellent customer relations. Robert prides himself in being hands-on and hopes his positive attitude and dedication to his work continues to bring success.
Santos CruzSuperintendent/CLT
Santos has been with Green Horizons since its inception and was instrumental in growing the business over the last few decades. He enjoys spending time with his family and has a passion for working on cars, a passion he shares with his two sons. You can usually find Santos in his garage working on these classis cars or maybe out on the 101 cruising on his Harley. Santos is a Certified Landscape Technician and Certified Recycled Water Supervisor and has a unique eye for landscape quality.
Martin Robles-MunozAccount Manager
Martin has been with Green Horizons since 1993. As a Supervisor for many years, he developed the skills and knowledge necessary to manage his own portfolio of properties. He enjoys working for Green Horizons and especially likes his partnership with co-workers. Martin feels like Green Horizons is an extension of his family. During his free time, he enjoys listening to music, watching western movies and loves baseball.
Jaime Carbajal-RodriguezField Supervisor
Jaime has enjoyed working at Green Horizons since 1993. He is married with two children and is from Acapulco, Mexico. One of Jaime’s favorite things to do is fishing. He is hardworking and really enjoys what he does. He worked his way up from a Laborer to Field Supervisor. Jaime is a wonderful team member and has been recognized for his amazing qualities as Employee of the Month several times over the years.
Miguel DelaCruzField Supervisor
Miguel is one of our originals and has been with us since 1988. Starting as a laborer, Miguel is now a Site Supervisor on one of our largest properties in La Costa. Originally from Jalisco, Mexico Miguel has 2 grown daughters and a granddaughter. He enjoys bike riding, soccer and loves spending time with his family.
Robert Barela JrField Supervisor
Robert Barela Jr. has been with Green Horizons since 2015. He started as a laborer and through hard work and dedication over the years, he was promoted to a Supervisor position. He resides in Carlsbad but was raised in Orange County, CA. He loves spending time with his large loving family, including 6 brothers and sisters, 6 nieces and nephews and a God daughter. His family is the most important thing to him and almost every weekend they are enjoying time together. Jr loves going to the bay, lagoon or the beach and anything outdoors.
Robert is appreciative of the opportunities Green Horizons has afforded him and is very grateful for his Green Horizons family as well as the clients he is able to get to know. And build relationships with. He says he has found a career that he enjoys every day.
Omar TrinidadField Supervisor
Omar started with Green Horizons in 2014 not long after graduating from Oceanside High School. His career at Green Horizons Landscape & Maintenance, Inc. started as a laborer where his hard work and effort allowed him to learn the skills necessary to become a foreman and soon after earned himself a supervisor position. Being a supervisor allows Omar the ability to create good relationships with board members and community managers. He always comes to work with a positive attitude and tries to provide clients with the best customer service possible. He strives to be a good team leader and is always there when his team members need him. Although he really enjoys working at Green Horizons, he enjoys coming home and spending time with family and friends. He’s lived in Oceanside his whole life so he’s always been close to the beach, where he enjoys to spend a lot of his free time.

Jake BuenoArbor Division Coordinator
Meet Jake Bueno, a dedicated professional with a passion for environmental conservation and leadership. Jake got his start in the field at the California Conservation Corps, where he was promoted to a crew leader and recognized as one of the best in the organization, earning the opportunity to share his inspiring story with congresspeople and legislators at the state capital. Moving on to Urban Corps, he continued to excel as a supervisor. Hired at Green Horizons in September 2022, he quickly climbed the ranks, becoming an Arborist Assistant within nine months, and shortly after, he was promoted again, this time to the role of Tree Division Coordinator. Currently, as the coordinator of the Arbor Division, Jake is instrumental in overseeing the strategic planning, execution, and overall management of our arboriculture projects. As he navigates the path to becoming a certified arborist, Jake brings not only a wealth of experience and dedication but also a visionary approach to managing and enhancing our Arbor Division. Outside of his professional endeavors, Jake finds joy in fishing, camping, and making music. Family holds a special place in Jake's heart, and he cherishes moments spent with his wife, daughter, and loved ones.
Gilberto MejiaArbor Division Superintendent
Beto, our esteemed Field Superintendent, has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and unwavering integrity throughout his impressive career in the environmental conservation industry. Starting as a tree climber in 1993, Beto joined Green Horizons in 2009 and swiftly rose through the ranks due to his exceptional skills and dedication. From a tree climber, he advanced to the role of Arbor Division Supervisor in 2018, showcasing his commitment to getting the job done right and on time. Recognizing his outstanding performance, Beto was further promoted to Field Superintendent in 2023. In this pivotal role, he manages various aspects of our operations, ensuring efficiency and success in every project. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Beto enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, embracing his love for the outdoors. His leadership and dedication make Beto an invaluable asset to our team, driving excellence and success in every endeavor.

Fernando Rivera Irrigation Supervisor
Fernando was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and relocated to California at 15 years old when he started his career in the landscaping industry. He has 8 children and 5 grandchildren. He loves spending time with his wife Veronica and enjoys taking his kids to the park, movies and watching them play sports. In Fernando's 33 years of experience in landscape, he worked his way up from a labor position to foreman and is currently an irrigation technician and supervisor for the department. He strives to work hard while maintaining a safe and productive workplace. He loves his position and enjoys being a part of this company.
Alberto Sanchez Construction Division Supervisor
Alberto Sánchez, originally from Los Angeles relocated to San Diego In 2015 in pursuit of a better quality of life. Fortunately, his journey led him to Green Horizons. He enjoys being a part of Green Horizons and says it isn't just about a job; it's about being valued, respected, and believed in. Over the years, Alberto has been a source of support and growth contributing to the overall success of the company. Outside of the corporate world, he finds joy in immersing himself in nature. Whether it's camping under the stars, hiking scenic trails, or engaging in various outdoor activities, he cherishes every moment spent in the great outdoors. His philosophy in life revolves around simplicity and happiness. He is an optimistic individual, always wearing a smile and eager to share positivity with those around him.
